The Tasmanian water and sewerage reforms are all about reducing water waste and treating sewerage in a way that the water can be recycled. Tasmania is special in that it is surrounding by a lot of beautiful landscapes and beaches but unless we work hard at reducing our waste, this may not always be the case.

We are proposing striking water reforms that will reduce the amount of water consumed by people in their homes as well as in business. Some of the changes we will be proposing are as follows.

1) Water tanks for every home and business. Water waste comes in many shapes and forms and the lack of a water tank in a home or business means the inability to collect rain water. Rain water can be used for toilets, washing cars or watering the garden. While not suitable for consumption, rain water housed in water tanks can be utilised for many other things.

2) Water saving shower heads. A saving of up to %50 in water consumption can be made through the installation of a water saving shower head. These types of shower heads reduce the amount of water flowing through the shower while maintaining water pressure. They not only save a lot of water but can also reduce the cost of your water bill and are a must have for any home.

3) Recycling water. Water used to treat sewerage is suitable for human consumption after being recycled. While many people are turned off by the idea, it’s a way in which we can make water savings that will reduce our impact on our surrounding environment.

4) Clean up after your pets. You can get waste bags from your local pet shop which can assist.
